Half Yard is the top producer of wedding programming in the US, having created the successful wedding franchises Say Yes to the Dress, I Found the Gown, and Randy to the Rescue for TLC, as well as the critically acclaimed The Last Alaskans, Dino Hunters and Twin Turbos for Discovery. In addition, it has produced a wealth of hit series for networks such as: Nat Geo (Diggers), History (How the States Got Their Shapes), and Animal Planet (Hillbilly Handfishin’). New shows include a reboot of popular home makeover show While You Were Out for both TLC and HGTV, representing the first series co-production across Discovery’s expanded Lifestyle portfolio; and two new spin-offs of the Say Yes franchise – Say Yes to the Nest for HGTV, and Say Yes to the Dress America for TLC.
Half Yard was founded by Abby Greensfelder and Sean Gallagher in 2006. Dirk Hoogstra became CEO in December 2020 after joining Half Yard in 2019 as EVP of Development.
Dirk Hoogstra is CEO of Half Yard Productions. Dirk joined Half Yard in 2019 as EVP of Development, and was promoted to CEO in December 2020.
Over the last 26 years Dirk has worked in the media industry as a network executive and producer, holding a number of senior positions including EVP and General Manager of A&E’s History. During his run at History he developed and oversaw scripted and unscripted series including American Pickers, Counting Cars, Mountain Men, Top Gear, Hatfields & McCoys, The Bible and Vikings.
Chief Creative Officer
Nicole Sorrenti is a top creative with over 20 years of television experience as a Showrunner, Developer, and Executive Producer. As the Chief Creative Officer she oversees all of Half Yard’s output, heading up current and development, leading creative strategy, while expanding and evolving the business. She continues to make shows and develop formats for a wide range of networks including Netflix, Discovery, TLC (US & UK), CBS, Hulu, ID, Bravo, Lifetime, Channel 4 UK, Tru TV, HGTV, NatGeo, and Animal Planet. Nicole has been at Half Yard since it opened its doors, producing the pilot of Say Yes to the Dress, which has since grown into a global franchise, with various spinoffs both domestically and internationally.
Janice is a 34 year TV veteran who started her career at the BBC in the UK before coming to New York to open a Production arm for BBC Factual Entertainment Dept before moving to Optomen Productions and eventually Half Yard Productions. She has been with Half Yard since 2011.
Her credits include Top Gear, What Not to Wear, Worst Cooks in America, Hillbilly Handfishin, Last Alaskans and of course Say Yes to the Dress.
Rossana O’Hop is Chief Financial Officer at Half Yard Productions. As one of Half Yard’s original employees, Rossana has overseen all financial aspects of the company since its inception. She has more than 30 years of experience in the entertainment field and has had a hand in every production of Half Yard’s while keeping a close eye on the bottom line. O’Hop holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and is a CPA initially licensed in the State of California. Rossana was born in Santiago, Chile but her family moved to Los Angeles, California when she was seven years old, which greatly inspired her to work in the entertainment industry. She resides in McLean, Virginia with her family.

Brittany has extensive experience developing and producing unscripted content ranging from premium documentary series to talent driven formats. Bringing a razor sharp mind to the process allied with a firm belief that content shapes culture, she has an attention to detail on every word & image we use to shape the very best ideas, push boundaries, and spotlight unique voices.
Manager of Development
Haruka is a self-starting “Zillennial” with a passion for creating diverse TV that, whether through comedy or catharsis, can be enjoyed by viewers from all walks of life. She has a particular dedication to creating work that genuinely spotlights underrepresented communities and drives TV into the future.
VP, Production & Development
John joined Half Yard Productions in 2010, and has since overseen production on over 200 hours of programming in a wide array of genres from Off the Grid to Weight Loss. John’s credits include the hit series Hillbilly Handfishin’ for Animal Planet, the critically acclaimed docuseries The Last Alaskans, and the groundbreaking A&E series Raising Tourettes. In addition to production, John has also been instrumental in the development of several projects including Twin Turbos and Dino Hunters for The Discovery Channel and a True Crime limited series for Netflix.
Emmy award winning producer Nikki Taub joined Half Yard Productions in 2009 as showrunner for TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress. She has since produced over 200 hours and led the series into its current 20th season as one of the longest running shows on television. In addition, Nikki has produced several Say Yes spin offs including My Big Day, SYTTD America, I Found the Gown , and Say Yes to the Address for HGTV.
Director of Casting
Lisa has over 13 years experience in television. With a background in Broadcast Journalism, she combines her talent for unearthing compelling stories with her ability to engage in meaningful dialogues to create powerful, substantive and entertaining programming. For over 10 years she has worked to build and craft Half Yard’s casting into a department which keeps long running programs fresh and new programs innovative.
Head of Production
Gina is a proven leader in entertainment production, with more than a decade of experience across a range of television formats. Having contributed to various Half Yard shows over the years, including Say Yes to the Dress, American Loggers, and Hillbilly Handfishin, she joined the Half Yard team full time in 2019. Now, as Head of Production, Gina oversees the management of our full slate of projects across current production and development.
Prior to joining Half Yard, Gina’s credits include Lifetime’s Project Runway, Discovery’s Alone, and Counting Cars and American Restoration for History, as well as content for networks including NatGeo, Netflix, TLC, A&E, Bravo, AMC, MTV, TruTV, Vice, Fusion, and Animal Planet.
Director of Post Production
Throughout Patrick’s 11 year career in media, he has worked in both Television and Digital mediums and has professional experience in all major editing platforms. He has also served as a Media Technology Specialist in the past and continues to incorporate that into his job to this day. Patrick has a pet tortoise named Cheeseburger, who he’s had since he was 12 years old.
