Say Yes to the Dress and The Last Alaskans prodco Half Yard Productions has elevated Matthew Ayres to the post of VP of development, effective immediately.

Ayres, who has served as director of development since 2014, will see his remit expand to include oversight of the Red Arrow Studios-owned outfit’s creative output, while continuing to fill the company’s development pipeline.

He reports into Half Yard’s chief creative officer Nicole Sorrenti.

Ayres has more than 15 years of experience as both a leading content creator and developer, having worked on productions including Twin Turbos and Hillbilly Handfishin’.

“Matt has been part of the Half Yard team since its earliest days and has played an instrumental role in launching new and noteworthy content, including our critically-acclaimed docuseries Raising Tourettes and factual series The Last Alaskans,” said Half Yard CEO Sean Gallagher in a statement. “He has a unique skillset to cultivate productions through development and into commission and production, and I am delighted that he is taking on this new role at an exciting time for the company.”

The promotion comes nearly two months after Half Yard co-CEO and executive producer Abby Greensfelder decided to step back from overseeing the day-to-day operations at the Bethesda, Maryland-headquartered firm to focus her efforts on developing a new company that champions and supports the voices of women in all forms of media.

As a result of Greensfelder’s departure, co-founder Gallagher has assumed the title of sole CEO for Half Yard.

Greensfelder remains a co-owner and shareholder in the production outfit, and sits on the company’s executive board with what the company calls “an active role in corporate direction and strategy.”
